My basketball team - self indulgence here
 

As most of you know, I coach highschool basketball. JV level (primarily sophs, the occasional jr or freshman). For our last home game of the season on 2/3/06, the school brought in a professional photgrapher and he posts his the pictures on his website. Some really fine sports photography.

That takes you to a page where you can select JV hoops.

Sadly, my team played as well as we could have in this game, and lost 80-70 to finish at 12-4. If you look at picture 048, which shows my starting power forward next to their starting power forward, you'll have an idea why.

There are a couple of pics of me on the bench. My best player was #24, who went 6-8 from 3 in the game (and shot 56% for the season from behind the arc).

If you look at pic 029, you can see my lovely wife in dark red scratching her neck, directly behind the play with the ball.

Wow, your wife scratches her neck like a pro!


My daughter made her 7th grade team despite being at least 6" shorter than the next smallest player. Play begins next week and she still has an outside shot at being the starting point guard. She loves collecting them dimes which, of course, makes her the anti-Kobe.

I like point guards that play like, well, point guards. My point is in some of the photos (short guy - #20 - couple of him taking free throws), but he is a bit on the too unselfish side. Wide open 15 footer off ball reversal - gotta take it. He'd rather drive and dish, which he excels at, but you still gotta take the open shot.

And congrats on the daughter making the team. My 6th grade daughter is itching for next year and jr. high ball already.

I think you are your wife are commmunicating through secret head scratching messages. See pic #58 for an example.

You caught us. She's the actual brains behind the team.

You know, when your wife gives you the signal that the bookie wants you to shave a few points, you're still supposed to win the game.
