Spam-a-Less in California

Grrrr. There will be no California (or Arizona) stops for the touring company of the Broadway Monty-Python fest "Spam-a-LoT."

That's because Vegas impressario Steve Wynn has snagged a version of the production for his humbly-named Wynn Resort in Sin City, as a west-coast exclusive. It will, however, be a truncated, 90-minute version of the show. And so California residents will be hard-pressed to see the full version of the yucktacular that has garnered so much acclaim.

The abbreviated version of Spam-a-LoT is set to premiere in Las Vegas just over a year from now, in March of '07.

ok, that sucks. while not THE biggest Python fan on the planet, I would liked to have had a shot at seeing the real deal in its entirety

Wait a mo - are they claiming the entire west coast? So no Seattle, the place that launched Hairspray stops?

Cadaverous Pallor 02-17-2006 01:01 PM

This sucks.

Wynn's exclusivity covers only California, Nevada and Arizona.

Whether the tour stops in Washington State will be up to them, but they are not prohibited from doing so.

This blows...

They probably will. For some reason, we're a bigger theatre town than most people think. We've launched Hairspray and Light in the Piazza was developed here (book writer is on the staff of the Intiman Theatre here.) We don't get things in the initial Chicago/LA runs, but we do get shows eventually.

I guess y'all will just have to come up here to see the show.

Guess what, kids? SPAMalot is playing in Boston! Finally, something Boston has that LA doesn't have.
:D

We're not sure if we're going to see it here or in NY. We definitely have to make a trip to Broadway soon.
