What do you make of this???
So last year we redecorated the dining area and had put our old table and chairs outside while moving the new ones in. A nice neighbor dropped by and asked if we were getting rid of them, and we said "yes, if you'd like anything there, help yourself." He took the set.
Yesterday I heard an infernal banging and peered out the window to see said neighbor beating one of the chairs with a baseball bat. Just really pounding the poor chair. There didn't seem to be any purpose to it, as the blows were all over the thing...not to mention nobody on our street has a fireplace so it couldn't have been for kindling. I watched, and he just beat that chair senseless. Then he left it there. All I could think of doing was checking the deadbolt on my front door, because I didn't think dialing 911 to report chair-beating would make me look very sane. Should I now be frightened of this neighbor, or do you think there could be a rational explanation... Is he...out of his tree or something? :D |
That is so weird and random. Maybe he has anger issues? Maybe he watched too much 'Jackass'?
 Straaange... |
Maybe he was taking it out on the chair and not the Mrs.?
|
Is he Armenian? If so, that's how they warn you of imminent danger from themselves. They get something of yours with your permission, and then do violence to it in your sight.
If he's Armenian, be very afraid. If not, he's just your average nut job. Get him a squirrel name. |
No Mrs. and not Armenian. He's an independent Latino film-maker from Texas. Maybe he saw my review of "Crash." Seriously, I'm wondering what is up. He held a prayer vigil on the street Sept. 12, 2001. He had a Kerry sticker on his truck. He told me the guy downstairs from him had sent a "quiet-down" notice via certified mail. I gave him a piano too. I don't know his full name, but his squirrel name is "Private Nibbles his Nuts." Ahhhhhhhh! Got it.

Hmmm... odd. All of it.
|
Was the chair made of wood? Perhaps he was adding a distressed look.
|
I'd vote for distressed, too. Perhaps he's watched too many Frank episodes of Trading Spaces?
|
I once beat a chair senseless so it would fit into the can easier; maybe he didn't need the full set and that chair was being prepared for removal:confused:
|
I often hit things to fix them- you know, smack the tv set, etc. Never works, but I feel better. Perhaps the chair was broken and he was just trying to fix it? Maybe something was wrong with the bat...
