When Disney Merchandise Goes Mad

Is it me or has some Disney merchandise gone mad? What mercandise do you think crosses the line? Its not necssarly about price or anything. Just, I dunno, silly? Over the top? But then again, look at my Avatar. Well maybe its my taste that finds this too much. Is it only me?

I personally think the Pumbaa hat with farting noise and motorized spinning tail is just a bit "over the top". (I still want one!) :)

When I worked as a Merchandise Hostess at the Disneyland Hotel in, um, the mid-nineties, the song, "Whoomp, there It Is!" by Tag Team was HUGE.

So, it only made sense that Disney had to record a Mickey & Friends version titled, "Whoomp! There It Went!"

And on the cover, was the always darling Mickey Mouse, with his shorts & gloves combo replaced by huge shades, backwards baseball cap, super baggy jeans with the tops of his boxers exposed, and his arms crossed in front of him.

Mickey went totally 19th Street, and it broke my heart. :(

The hats have gotten out of control. The worst is the Nemo hat which has a slit in the bottom...as if you ran a knife through Nemo and stuck your head into his guts. Either that, or Nemo is really a girl....

Mickey has always been a slave to music and fashion changes...

Thank you for that, CP! :D I had that album & totally forgot about it!! And I played it on my Mickey Mouse Club turntable.

I like honorary BeeGee Mickey & Minnie. :)

Maybe one day I'll appreciate Lil' Smiley Gangsta Mickey, but I'm sure hoping not. :( :p ;)

Yes, nemo is a girl and gives birth to humans every once in a while.

Is this the face of labor or what?
