Boston

We're going tobe visiting Boson from April 10 -16. YAY! Chris will be working Tu-Th but we'll have the rest of the time to explore. I've visited Boston once when I was 15 and have no memory of the city itself. I DO remember the Mayflower II and visiting Plymoth, which is just outside of the town.

So, I've purchased the requisite travel guide but, so far, only have 2 ABDOLUTE things I want to do:
  1. Visit the enormous Pre-Raphaelite collection at the Fogg Museum
  2. Spend time with GC and Raplhie
But, with so much to choose from, I can't seem to decide on more. I will probably do a lot of exploring and walking while Chris is working leaving the rest of the time for joint exploration.

So, do those of you who have visited Boston or know the City have any favorites?

I'm half tempted to rent a car and drive to Newpor RI or Cape Cod just to see. Did you EVAH!

The Old People went there last summer. They stayed at a campground outside of town and took a train in. They did some sort of tour group thingy while in town. My mom said she was glad they didn't try to drive in and see things that way. They loved their tour. If you want to get more info I can ask her what tour it was.

From what I've heard: don't try to drive your own way around Boston.

Or was that Philadelphia... now I can't remember.

That is a nice number of days~will Chris be with you all of the time or will you be touring a bit on your own?

Sounds great~I think I would rent the car and head up to the Cape. At least in my non geographically straight mind I would. Is it quite a drive?

Tell GC and Ralphie 'Hey!' for me, K?

And, have fun!

We used to summer in the Cape. It's still fantastic (we were even there 2 years ago). The drive to the Cape isn't a big deal, with one caveat: the lower part of the Cape (the "upper cape" - I know, don't ask), is nowhere near as cool as the upper part (the "lower cape"). If you're not going to drive to Truro, Wellfleet or Provincetown, don't do it.

There's plenty to see in Boston, too. So if you don't get out of the metro area, you'll still have a blast. I assume you'll cross the river and check out Cambridge. As far as I'm concerned, it's as much Boston as Hollywood is LA.

From what The Old People said, both were bad, but Boston was far worse. Then again, they are Old, so everything to them (at least Mom) is bad. Heck, she gripes about the traffic from my side of town to hers.

This is going to be great fun. There are a couple of restaurants that we have in mind. There's also lots and lots to do. Ralphie and I have done a great deal but have saved a lot of things in order to do them with our friends from out of town.

I'm also going to finagle a couple of days off from work. It's time for some time off.
:)

Is the period of time in GC's life before he met his beau referred to as the Pre-Ralphiaelite?
