Join the hunt..

and help solve a mystery. When was the google map photo of DL taken? Terraserver-usa.com (which has the same photo) says March 29th 2004. However I think that is incorrect.

Come visit this thread (on another site) if you would like to help...

During the repainting of Space
Holiday decorations up so sometime between November and the 13t week of January
Looks like Mark Twain is in rehab
Looks like a cold day too - no one's in the pools
Also, is that construction wall arounf Big Thunder?

I'm too tired to dig through the threads to ID the timeframe - but with the clues above, someone should be able to peg it.

€uroMeinke 03-26-2006 11:03 AM

I believe the photo to be taken sometime btween mid-Novermber 2003 and Early December 2003.

Big Thunder down 9/2003 - 8/2004
Xmas Decorations traditionally November through 1st wek of January
Mark Twain Rehab 11/3/2003 - 2/2004

And I find a trip report to DL on 11/17/2003 that mention Space Mountain appears white from Main Street and unpainted from Tomorrowland

Don't know when painting was completed, but I recall it didn't stay 2-toned for long.

C-monkey is correct.

the shadows from building indicate time of year, as well as, holiday decor and rehabs.

i spotted a certain parking area that is no longer there as well.

i'd say december, 2003.

very cool to see how amazingly close to the Park my childhood home is.

never did find my brick in the esplanade:D

Paining was complete by Jan 26th. So it's well before that.

Tortilla Joes shows a construction wall that is mentioned in a Mouseplanet Jan update.

Why is there a crowd of people in the area just NW of the hub? What is there?

Is main street aligned directly north to south?

I think what you are seeing is the umbrellas of Carnation Plaza.

since they are much smaller than the average size of Park umbrellas (reference the Plaza Inn), i think it just might be a group of people.

could they be planning a sneak sinking of the carousel?:D
