The End of a Royal Era (and the start of a new one)

The famed Prince and Princess restrooms on the east side of Sleeping Beauty Castle have been remodeled and re-christened. They are now the King and Queen restrooms.

For quite some time, there have been two sets of Prince and Princess bathrooms - - the others are over near the Fantasyland Theater, across from it's a small world. But these are boring, featureless and dull - - and the long-preceeding, original Prince and Princess restrooms were charming for their castle-walls locale and unique for their two-way entry and exits.

Well, the two-ways in and out of these restrooms is a thing of the past ... gone along with the names which I will have a hard time not calling them. The north entries have been walled up, with one turned into a bizarre alcove.

The good news is that the remodel is swell. Go take a leak, er look when you get a chance. The interiors have been themed to the nearby Alice in Wonderland attraction - with nifty black and red diamond tile borders and, best of all - playing card toilet stall doors (that will probably be a maintenance nightmare).

"King and Queen" is more aptly themed to Alice also, but I will miss the more generic, Castle-themed "Prince and Princess" moniker that has graced these graceful restrooms for decades ... if not since Day One for all I know.

The restrooms seem smaller now that there's only one way in or out. But they are undeniably prettier. Go see 'em or use 'em soon - while the pretty is on!

Awww, I have to g to the Wonderbra Theater to have the Princess and the Pee.

I find the Alice theme to be quite fun in decor. Tokyo has aa FANTASTIC Alice-themes restaurant. But, I have to admit, I'd ALWAYS use this restroom if it was themed in the style of the Evil Queen.

They have Alice-themed potties?!!!?

I have to convince BT that we need to go back again soon.

Cool! I love the tilework and the doors. But, who's that perve taking pics in the bathroom? ;)

Oh good, pics speak a thousand words.

Hmm, hearts tiles, not diamonds as I remembered them. Nice.

Was it really safety concerns that doomed the two-way restrooms? Just what are the kidnapping stats at Disneyland anyway??

I broke every Rule of Male Bathroom and took one picture in there before chickening out. I was so caught up in the rule breaking that I almost spoke.

That weird alcove is eventually going to be home to a White Rabbit statue but it apparently isn't ready yet.

I don't know if the safety thing cause the redesign but it was almost certainly a factor. And it isn't so much kidnappings as just dealing with all the younger children separated from parents because neither realized that there were two exits.

But did you may eye contact with anyone?

I said I was "caught up" not "cracked out to the point of stupidity."

White Rabbit statue? Arg! This is torture!
