Matthew Bourne's Edward Scissorhands coming to LA
While seeing the always hilarious Dame Edna at the Ahmanson last week, I saw some previews for Matthew Bourne's "Edward Scissorhands" which is scheduled to play there from December 12 to December 31, 2006. I'm not sure if this is a ballet or a musical, but the previews that were shown were very dance-heavy, so I'm leaning toward the former. Regardless, I will do my best to secure a ticket for this show!
The Official UK Production site has been updated with new pictures. Playbill has an article on the US Tour. |
I'm VERY excited about this show. I was just telling GC today that he NEEDS to see Swan Lakwe while it is in Boston.

I am bummed I didn't get to see SL when it was here. But I love what I've seen of Bourne, and would love to see this.

This one's a must see for me

Single tickets are now on sale for Edward Scissorhands.
We got tickets for Friday, December 22nd at 8 pm if anyone wants to join us. |
Dang! We're on the road that day. We'll try and go another day.

I'll be seeing it on the 27th.

I guess I'm in the minority on this one. Doesn't seem appealing to me at all, and I love both ES and musicals. Just seems like an odd combo to me, and the pics I've seen don't help.

Well, it's not a musical. It's more like an interpretation of a story using movement and music. Bourne is exceptionally great at using the medium of dance and kinetics to tell a story in a modern fashion. I've seen 4 different Bourne events and haven't been disappointed yet. As a matter of fact, I find them to be more entertaining than the straight plays I've seen recently.

I need to change my first name and collect some checks... ;)
