Jungle Cruise Skipper Night at Maverick Stand Up in Fullerton

Today's MousePlanet Update provided a tidbit on an upcoming comedy show that may be of interest to you CA locals. Maverick Stand Up in Fullerton is hosting a comedy night featuring Jungle Cruise skippers on June 11. Here's a link to the official webpage with details.

I hope some of you can make it and let us know how it was. :)

Oh cool, I love The Maverick! Thanks for the heads-up Steph!

Out here on the East Coast, the term Jungle Cruise Skipper is a pejorative, sometimes even used to describe performers in non-Disney venues. ("I saw a production of My Fair Lady the other night, and the guy that played Dolittle was a freakin' Jungle Cruise Skipper.") It connotes a hamtacular performer who thinks she/he is much funnier than he/she is.

To be fair, I did see a very funny Skipper on my last trip to CA just a month or so ago. I don't remember his name, but I did tell him after the ride that he had been one of the funniest I had seen.

I have fear that the Skipper MousePod recorded will be at this event.

My experience on the West Coast is that outside of Disney-fan circles, "Jungle Cruise skipper" has a similar meaning. Or at least at the northern end of the West Coast since I've never heard it used outside of Disney fan circles since I found myself inside the circles.

Hmmm, we purposefully opted out of riding the Jungle Cruise yesterday, because the crop of skippers we've experienced of late has hardly been the cream of.

Will it be J.C. veterans at the Maverick or will they be plucked from the current ranks of not-so-stellar newcomers?

Sounds like a little from column A, a little from column B.

...all of the comics are current or former skippers!

We were quite surprised to actually get a really good skipper the last time we rode. Even heard a few jokes that we hadn't heard before...and they were funny. I'd share if I could recall them. It was the first time in a long while that we were entertained throughout the whole ride so maybe there is hope.

There's at least one really funny lady skipper now... I can't recall her name, but she was definitely a pleasant surprise, after hearing Mousepod's recorded Heart of Darkness Jungle Cruise.
