TiVO and closed captioning
So my TiVO is now hooked up so I can record one thing and watch another but now it seems that closed captioning is stuck "on" for all recorded shows (including shows that were recorded before the re-wiring). The TV closed captioned settings are turned off and I can't find a closed captioned setting for my TIVO.
Anyone know what I'm not doing? |
Anyone? :( I looked on the TiVO site and it confirms that captioning is done through the TV. I looked [again] at the TV settings and the CC is of. When I watch TV through the TV there's no captioning.
If it makes a difference the TIVO is run through the Video 1 input. |
Is it possible that you have separate settings for each input on your tv?
I know that my Toshiba has completely different settings, so I can change the color/brightness/etc for cable without altering the settings for the DVD player, for example. If you want to test the theory, plug in a DVD player to the video1 input and see if CC shows up. If it does, it's the TV. If not, back to the TiVo drawing board... What's the model of your TV? That would sure help get to the bottom of this... |
My TV is Advent. There aren't seperate settings. My TIVO has always gone in through video 1 and this just started.
The only change that was made is the re-wiring so I can watch something on regular TV and record something on the TVIO. I think that all that was done was a second splitter and an additional cable. Thank you MousePod! |
Tori could fix that- she's the only one who knows how to turn on and off the CC in our house.
Hi, Mousepod!!!!!! |
Ok, not that I want to jinx anything, but the captioning is gone.
