My first super 8 movie is done!

I just got done editing it (tape and sissors!). And I just ran it through the projector and it looks pretty good. I hand prossesed the film myself, which can be pretty hard with super 8 since you have to do it in the complete dark! Even thought the film is only about 2 minutes long it is the first film I have done in FILM! :D

I most likely won't put this film into a digital format simply because it was more of an expriment then a real project. I just wanted to make a movie with nothing more then useing my own hands as much a possable, this film has proved to me that I can do it! It is only about 2 1/2 minutes long with a dark figure in a robe walking around the hills of Santa Clarita and my school. What is cool about it is it has the look of being very old. If you have never seen hand prossesd film before it has a very damaged look to it, which it what I wanted!

But when I do make a good film I will be sure to transfer it and post it on the net for all of my online friends to see! :)

Oh my goodness! I haven't even heard of Super 8 in ages. Like vinyl, it's one of those mediums that creates a certain ambiance that does actually alter the viewing experience. Or, rather, changing mediums alters the intended experience. Watching the VCR tapes of old family Super 8 movies -- there's no "clickclickclick" of the projector, no need for it to be in the dark, no illuminated dust swirls in the projected beam. And the ease of using later media means there's no longer the ritual of gathering family and everyone getting comfy before watching.
Yay for Super 8!
