Dragon Update
Caring for the sick and "special needs" beings of the world is both fulfilling and heartbreaking. GusGus and I know it is our mission in life to be there for those who need a little extra help and love.
I have written how we have taken in several bearded dragons that were given little hope in surviving. I have shared how our little Eileen (or Legoless of it turns out to be a boy) is doing quite well, despite having lost a front leg. Many of you know the plights of Angel, Crookshanks (we never found him) and the nameless one we only had for a day. Well, today Zero left us for the big desert in the sky. He had always struggled and never grew any bigger than in the picture (we've had him for three or four months). Being how they are when we get them, you try not to be hurt when they leave. But it still touches you. I have been sitting here for about a 1/2 hour with little Zero's body on my chest as I cruise LoT (I also spent some time with him this morning before work knowing that that was probably the last time I would see him alive). GusGus and I spoke several times today about him. There is always a small thought that wonders what else we could have done: what did we miss or how could we have saved him. But we know that the reality is that this is just nature's plan. Hopefully we gave him a comfortable existance the short time we were blessed with him. So we are back down to three: our original two, Gratch and Scarlett (whom I suspect will be quite actively reproducing next spring), and of course Eileen/Legoless. |
I'm so sorry, Kevy! I wanted to ask about Crooks, but I didn't want to know the answer. You and Gus are two very cool and special people to care for the little guys, and I hope you will continue to do so in the future. At the very least, they are well cared for and loved, and there are so many creatures that are not. You may not be able to save every one of them, but you really should take comfort in giving them such a great home.

What wendybeth said.
You both have such kind hearts. I'm very sorry for your loss. |
I am so sorry...
I know how it feels to lose an animal. ((hugs)) |
Yeah, Wendy seems to hit this kind of stuff on the nose. Those little critters were glad to have you. I know I'd be!
 Thanks for the update, even if it's wasn't the cheeriest of news... |
Hug you, Kevin. You and the lovely Gus Gus.

You guys are definitely givers. We all know you do what's best for them.

Wendy said it so well, all I can say is you're both very kind and wonderful people to give these animals the love and care they deserve during their short time on this planet.
Take heart in the great things you do. Hugs to you both |
Oh wow! I'm so sorry Kevy! I know how attached you are to those little guys!
Bailey didn't get one for Christmas since we were traveling...but he's been asking almost constantly for a lizard...we're going thru the "proove your responsible enough to have one" thing right now...looks promising! Hugs to you and Gus Gus! |
Noooooo!!!!! :(
I was just holding little Zero a couple weeks ago. He fell asleep in my hand, and was SO cute. He's been in my thoughts since, and has made me smile. He was so precious and tiny. I'm sitting here, swearing under my breath right now. I'm sorry for you both. He was a real gem. Crap, I don't even know what to say. :( |
