Funniest Movie yet from Dreamworks

Or any other for that mater. From any Studio!

OVER THE HEDGE!!!

They got this one right! I haven't laughed so hard and so loud at a movie in ages. Up to now Ice Age was my favorite animated movie from the current crop of CGI films. But his one beats that by a huge margin.:)

If you love the old frantic nature of the Looney Tunes Cartoons, you will love Over the Hedge. All the critters are very funny but Hammie, the crazed squirrel, is the star of this movie.

If you prefer the more plodding and bathroom laced humor of Shrek, then you won't like the frantic laugh a minute pace this movie maintains for almost all of it's 1 hour 40 minute running time. And very few of the current craze of making body noises every few minutes. Only one bathroom joke from Hammie and it is very funny.

And stay through the credits for the end tag.:D

I liked it, as did my kids. I don't know if it is the funniest animated movie I've ever seen, but it is miles and miles beyond anything that has come out recently, particularly Chicken LIttle and Madagascar and The Wild and all that other drivel.

I will say the ending made me laugh harder than any animated movie ever has -

Spoiler:
When Hammie drinks the caffeinated beverage and the world slows to a virtual halt - than was hysterical.

Scrooge McSam - I sent you a PM about the last scene after the credits. I don't know how to do the hidden spoiler thing, and I would not want to give away to much on the thread.

Would you mind forwarding that to me? I didn't see it, either. My six year old had to go wee-wee!

The trailer makes me think the movie's loaded, you should pardon the expression, with fart jokes. Is this not the case? Are you people going to make me want to go see something I'd already written off?

Don't you mean that your six year old had to "whiz like a banshee"? :)

Lost Boy 05-27-2006 06:36 PM

Gn2DLnd - I hope so. There are no Fart Jokes in this movie. Hammie, the crazy squirrel does a burp now and then, the skunk lets loose once or twice, and it is all very funny and not at all like the crude jokes of Shrek. I think you will like this movie a lot. The critters are very funny, the human lady that they are tormenting deserves every bit of the chaos they reign down on her.

Scaeagles - I will do that now.

I said wee-wee in honor of Hammie, who wakes up from his hibernation and says "I have to go wee-wee!".
