Tink gets a voice

Brittany Murphy has been announced as the voice of Tinkerbell in an upcoming straight-to-video release based on the Fairies line of merchandise. It's the first time Disney will be doing anything that gives Tink a voice.

Great idea. I mean, look what it did for Hook!

How successful is the Fairies line? I remember the big launch, but haven't seen/heard much from it since. Having said that, my nieces are too young (7 months and 1 year old) to have been infected by the mania. Though the 1 year old is really into Dumbo.

I think it's done pretty well. I still see the merchandise in the park.

Then it's the DTV release of "My Dinner With Dopey"

I read a bit of the first fairies book and it seemed fine to me. It's written by a wonderful author (she wrote Ella Enchanted, a fantastic fairy tale). As it's about fairies interacting, they'll obviously have to talk to each other.

That said - spinoffs are sad testaments to the unpopularity of risk-taking.

Um... Tink already got a voice in the form of Julia Roberts.
