WDW Fireworkws

Does anyone know how good/bad "wishes" at WDW is? I have some friends going down next week and they need to know if it's a not-to-be missed event like Disneyland's current show...

I liked it a lot - but I saw it before I experienced "Remember". Remember blows everything out of the water, so don't even compare the two. But, it is a good show. I wouldn't miss it if I was there.

It's very nice. It isn't anywhere near as effects driven as Remember, and doesn't create anyting like the nightmare bottleneck that one does. It's only real fault is that Jiminy Cricket really goes overboard with the would-be inspiring "dream come true" yik-yak.

My favorite place to watch this show is from the landing of the MK ferry boat, all the way on the other side of Bay Lake. You get a really nice Kingdom skyline view, with the shells going off high above it, they pipe the music through to the dock, and when it's all over, you are way ahead of the crowd in getting back to your car. (Exiting the Magic Kingdom during the rush is awful.)

Depends on which way the wind is blowing. Last time I saw it the wind was blowing sort of towards us, so nearly all the bright shiny lights were obscured by smoke from the first volley. Kind of a bummer.

I forgot how talkie Wishes was. Jiminy does need to tone it down a bit.

I wish Jiminy would fly into a buglight...

But how does it compare to half of "Remember"?

It compares favorably to "Believe," if that helps. I think "Believe" has more character (and less yik-yakking cricket).

My favorite Main Street spot to watch Wishes is lacking a speaker on the right-hand side. Either it's been broken every time I've stood there, or there isn't one there, or . . . something.

Wishes also looks decent from Liberty Square, though the big ones will be directly in front of you, and the smaller ones way over to the right by the castle. And there's that giant tree you have to make sure you stand to the right of.

But the best spot, unless you want to grab a rocking chair and be the last person out of Liberty Square (which I enjoy), is from the ferry dock from the TTC.

If you have to choose beteen Fantasmic, Wishes, and IllumiNations, choose IllumiNations. The music is better, getting out of the park afterwards is no problem, and the Inferno Barge is back with a vengeance.

oh yeah - illuminations was not a problem for leaving the parkm but wishes is kind of a pain.

Thanks for all the advice. My friends were planning dinner at the California grill anyway so I had them change their reservations to coincide with the fireworks. They hate crowds and love good wine so it sounded like a good fit.....
