Too bad the people you talked to didn't have a good time. We had a blast. I'll have a full report up at some point, but this was my second Worldcon, my first having been the one in Anaheim in '96. There were a few standout things, but in general, most of the panels were fun. There were a few that didn't quite turn out the way I expected, and the problem is always that there's too much to do and not enough time to do it in.
Daytime highlights for me: "Star Wars" discussion with Steve Sansweet from Lucasfilm - looks like we're probably going to Celebration IV next year, since it'll be at the L.A. Convention Center; session with Marina Sirtis - she hasn't changed a bit and is always a riot to listen to; session with Harlan Ellison - he's as opinionated as ever; Godzilla panel discussion - excited that lots of DVDs are coming out soon; Buffy/Joss Whedon panels - it was really interesting to hear about the development of Buffy and how Joss works.
Evening highlights: "Once More, With Feeling" singalong - that was just awesome!; "Match Game SF - After Dark" - a really great take on a classic show, and with the nighttime version, adults only, no answers barred.
And of course, the parties! The hardest thing was getting up the next morning for 10am panels after being up so late.
I know we're not going to next year's Worldcon (in Japan), and we're probably not going in 2008 (Denver won), but I'm definitely keeping track of where it travels in the next few years.
