The musical will run about 30 minutes compared to the a 1-hour-44-minute movie
I can picture it now...

music comes up...
Marlin: "Nemo!!!! Where are you!!"
Nemo: "right here dad".
curtain falls...

Why have a preview on Broadway for a show for a disney theme park?

Does the theater have bathrooms?

LSPoorEeyorick 10-19-2006 04:56 PM

It's not intended to travel to Broadway; it was designed to stay at WDW.

It's being written/produced by the original creators of Avenue Q, which I LOVE (and which you should see if you haven't yet, or at least listen to.) So I'm actually pretty excited to see it (when, eventually, I get back out to Orlando. We've got a Michigan wedding and a California reception and an Italian honeymoon to pay for before we can get there, though.)

Speaking of Avenue Q, I think there should be a LoT Vegas trip to see Avenue Q and Love :D

Oh! I live here! I wanna go :) I don't think Q is still playing though.

Don't care. Must see LOVE. All Cirque has been awesome (well, except for Quidam, the only one G.D. saw ... so he can't come to LoT Vegas, lest he curse the show).

Add in the fact that I'm a Beatles fan, and this is a MUST and fairly soon.

LoT Vegas ... oh my god, who can resist it's swanky punfection?!?

My Cirque-loving Beatles friend absolutely hated LOVE. But most people I know liked it well enough.

And yeah, Avenue Q flopped out of the Wynn back in May. The full-length broadway production didn't match the economic realities of the Vegas strip and the numbers didn't improve once they cut the show a bit to make it more Vegas-standard. Spamalot (a trimmed version) will open in the theater early next year. Here's a good recap on it from last April.

I saw Q at the Wynn, and I loved it -- but I do think it would have played better in a smaller theatre.

And I definitely thought it was not "spectacle" enough for Vegas, it definitely seemed out of place (unlike Mamma Mia, Hairspray, or any Andrew Lloyd Webber "flashy" musical). In Vegas, people wanna see crazy dancing, over the top sets, and big tits..... period.

Maybe they can do a "Meet The Feebles" Vegas show? :)
