Deep Throat returning to theaters

Coinciding with a documentary about the movie shown at Sundance, the original Deep Throat will be hitting theaters.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6934671/

As I understand the article, there will be two versions shown. One, the full original that will be NC-17, the others an edited down version that will receive an R rating. Feh.

On a side note, this all coincides with reports that the movie's namesake, the Nixon administration media informant that has remained anonymous for 33 years, is in poor healt, possibly on his death bed. Supposedly an obituary identifying this person as Deep Throat has already been written will be published if and when he passes.

Interestingly enough, there is also a new book out that claims that none other than.... George H.W. Bush was Deep Throat.

Quote:

The author of several books for major publishers, Adrian Havill says his claim is based on recent events and his own research at the the National Archives. He announced the “finding” in a letter posted at the Romenesko site at the Poynter Institute.

<Snip>

Among the suggestive evidence he cited for his new theory:

“Did Bush have motivation? You bet,” Havill wrote. “It was Richard Nixon who urged Bush to leave a safe seat in Congress, hinting there would be a position as assistant Secretary of the Treasury waiting for him if he failed to win a Senate seat held by Ralph Yarborough. When Bush lost, Nixon reneged and asked him to take the U.N. slot instead but teased him by hinting he would be the replacement for Spiro Agnew in 1972. Instead, he was given the thankless task of heading the Republican National Committee in 1973. The elder Bush got his revenge in the end, by standing up at a cabinet meeting in August of 1974 and becoming the first person in Nixon's inner circle to ask the President to resign.

Yeah, heard about that. Seems unlikely with the rather credible reports of DT's health.

Anyway, back to the important topic...gotta find out which theaters in the area are going to run this, in it's uncut version, of course.

Thank God. 70's porn in theaters again! (I need an Ew smiley)

Will it be showing in Downtown Disney?

Baileykat 02-08-2005 03:38 PM

I've never seen it!

But I think I'll try to find the documentary...hopefully it'll show in here in Tucson or Phoenix...and then of course I'll have to see the movie as well...it is after all a pop culture icon! :blush: ;)
