Candlelight 2006

I guess you can make reservations as of today for the Candlelight over on the Disneyland AP website. What sucks is, from what I read, you have to pay in advace for the whole thing?

I just went tot he site and it's down. Dang, I'm never gonna get in!! :(

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 11-06-2006 06:09 PM

Ok. The whole Candlelight offer has dissapeared from the AP website!

????? WTF?

Anyone know what's up?

I read on another board the system got swamped and they had a meltdown. They need to catch up then they'll put the link back up, or some such.

Yes, the servers crashed due to the high traffic volume.

Yeah, I checked earlier, it wasn't back up. Grrrr!

I thought the Candlelight was just a processional? What is there to get tickets for?

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 11-07-2006 05:34 PM

Yeah, t his year they offered to AP's for a price you can have dinner and good seats for the whole thing. This year it's a bit different and is a 1 price package. Years before you had to buy a certain amount to get the ticket to sit in the good seats. It was all on the AP site but it's gone now. I'll just do what I do every year and wait to get a good standing spot.

It's a fantastic show featuring the reading of The Christmas Story by an often famous celebrity, constantly puncutated by carols and songs sung by a huge, massed choir - with live orchestral accompanyment. It's quite a treat ... and only available to day guests (at a price) in the last 6 years or so - - previously reserved strictly for Disney VIPs.

It's very Christmassy, and a cherished holiday tradition ... even in the shortened form that has come into "fashion" during the last dozen years or so.

I loved the "old" version, the long form ... especially long, since we'd have to camp out for hours to even get a standing room view from the non-VIP section.

about 400 reservations got through before the crash...well sort of... payments were not completed.

it was the orlando link that was the problem. those of us that made it that far have been sent an email from Events with a brief explanation and a promise that there will be additional communication regarding how/when to proceed.

the link was finally removed from the site to prevent further frustration and may be replaced after the technical issues are resolved.

it is not going through Disney Dining (781-DINE) and those CM's know as much as (or as little as) we do.

keeping my fingers crossed because i hope to make it part of my birthday celebration.
