Geeky Web Puzzle #148

http://www.weffriddles.com/

I am too sick today to work on it, but all my friends have sent me this saying it's the shiznit... I hope when I'm better I can work on it.

One note - Don't spoil it. I still wanna work on it! ;)

I just finished level 7.
Spoiler:
I figured out the answer, but it doesn't really make sense to me. That is, I got to level 8, but I don't feel that I've solved a riddle.

Apparently it doesn't make a lot of sense to anyone writing spoiler sites out there, either. The only explanations I could find involved "I don't really get this one, but" or "oh well, the answer is..."
Feh. I've got better things to do.

Spoiler:
It's a bit convoluted, but Ethan Frome is the name of the incomplete title. It's written as "__ then Frome", so if you add the "E" it's "E then" or "Ethan". Yeah, that one was odd.

I'm stuck on 14.

Spoiler:
The line reads 'half full' but the picture is titled 'pessimist'. If you see the glass as half empty you'd be a pessimist but if you see it as half full........

Okay, with that in mind, if there's an image titled 'pessimist' is there one titled........?

I'm at level 18 and must stop cause it's past 2am. Gak!

Anyone else finished with the first set ?

FEJ 11-15-2006 12:24 AM

I did..haven't started 2nd one yet.

Ghoulish Delight 11-15-2006 09:18 AM

Spoiler:
Yeah, I knew the title of the book. And that's the first explanation that makes sense. Sortof.

The fact that there's a Wharton book that comes in the space where the blank would be is confusing. Looks like they forgot one.

If "Ethan" was spelled "Ethen" then I'd think this one was pretty clever. But it's not, so I don't. I think "odd" is being generous. It's a significantly flawed puzzle.

I got to the one with the repeated computer screen images and got bored.

FEJ 11-16-2006 10:49 AM

I am on #48...
Haven't slept much lately ;)

only reason I am stopping is to go get a new car
