Tom Waits

I'm a HUGE Tom Waits fan. I believe I own every single full CD he has released - excpet for the latest one. Orphans was just released and it's a 3 disc set containing 54 songs that have not been on his core releases. (Some have been on film soundtracks, compilations or other releases.

NPR has a wonderful interview with this "national treasure" and you can listen to it here.

I've been in thrall to Waits since I was about thirteen, which was back in those early Asylum years. My older brother bought Blue Valentines, and I loved it even more than he did, so I went out and got everything Waits had released up to that point. What an amazing career this guy has had since!

Now, if only I could manage to see him live sometime.

Yes, me too! He's one of the few artists that I adore but never seen perform live. Nick Cave is another.

I'm probably gonna get killed for this...

I saw Tom Waits live, and I absolutely couldn't drink enough to enjoy the evening...

I love some of his recordings, but I came really close to leaving

His name has been floated as a Coachell possibility - that could be a fun show
