Sad news for comics fans...
I heard from his dear friends at the con today (LOSCON in LA) that legendary comics genius Dave Cockrum died this morning. If you were a fan of the Uncanny X-Men (as I was) then you knew Dave's work. Our hearts go out to his family, and the comics world has lost one of the greatest EVER. :(

OH, wow. This is the first I"ve heard. What sad news. I enjoyed his work so much. I wish I would've gotten the chance to meet him. I know he was in declining health. What a loss. :(

Wow! I'm not THAT much of a comics fan, but I certainly know his work...

I had my laptop open while Heather and I watched last night's Heroes, and stumbled across the story on my Google homepage. The AP lede was "Wearing Superman pajamas and covered with his Batman blanket, comic book illustrator Dave Cockrum died Sunday." We both cried a little.

I have to dig thru my boxes to find the Nightcrawler Mini he did back in 85. Wonderful stuff. I'm re-reading my Uncanny X-Men Marvel Masterpiece containint GS X-Men and the first few issues of his run on the title. Great stuff.
