Yeah, they sure seemed prepared for this mishap, shutting things down immediately and efficiently. :)

That's what they should do at Disneyland when a guest dies... wheel a screen over and shut off the lights... :D

Lifelike movements, until the fall that is. I need to see it live at DL. Is it still there in Innoventions?

Why do Honda techs spend so much time on an anthropomorphic robot when you still insist on calling Asimo "it"?

Alex 12-11-2006 01:13 PM

Children under five are even more anthropomorphic and I still refer to them all as "it."

I was assuming this had something to do with Asimov but wasn't going to click a link to "pink-tentacles.com" at work. But I guess it is ASIMO, which I've still not yet seen in person.

Public, non-smilie mojo for Alex.

My A.W.E.S.O.M.-O is way cooler than that old hunk-a-junk! He's my best friend!

Because to work and function in a world built by/for humans it helps to be anthropomorphic. Stairs, doors, closets, transportation, they are all built to fit human forms and a robot in that shape will have an easier time than say a 8' long caterpillar based shape.
