Even Grandma was livin' in sin

A new survey indicates that the preponderance of pre-marital sex is nothing new. The numbers have remained the same since the 1950s, with the only significant difference being that people wait longer to get married so they spend more time having sex while unmarried. At least according to this survey. Kinda interesting.

To me, the phrase "living in sin" means living together before you're married. Does it mean premarital sex to other people?

What I'd be interested to know in those number is, has the rate at which the premarital sex partner is an eventual spouse changed?

There's a difference between giving it up after you're in a serious committed relationship and giving it up because sex is just part of dating.

No, you're right, living in sin generally means living together unmarried. But I liked the title, so oh well.

In my case, this is literally true. When I was in my 20s, I learned that my maternal grandmother had a child out of wedlock when she was a teenager. This was a surprise at the time because I just never thought of any "grandma" being promiscuous.

Just within the last few years we learned* that my paternal grandmother got pregnant with her first child (my uncle) while grandpa was still married to another woman. This was particularly shocking because this grandma was very religious. They eventually got married, but it was after my uncle was born.

*When asked when she was married, grandma always refused to give an exact date—she claimed she didn't remember. It wasn't until she was (literally) on her deathbed that she admitted the truth to my dad.

Heh heh....I have several elderly relatives whose dates between marriage and the birth of their kids just don't add up. Of course they would be the really religious ones, so I probably snicker more over this than is proper.

I've had male roomies before, but our relationships were platonic. Does this mean we were living in sin?

But I suppose most promiscuous girls will become grandmas some day.....

No, you can share a room. It's the sharing a bed (Ok, sex before wedlock) that's the sin part.

I lived in sin for two years. She was my first girlfriend. Now she's my wife. And the only woman I've been to bed with. We just took 2 years to get married, that's all.....

Depends. Were they hot? If they were hot and you didn't do anything, that's probably a sin.

Yes. That's why Jack had to pretend to be gay.

If they were hot and no lovin' took place it's not only a sin but a shame.

My Grandma was a Grandma by 1950. If either one lived in sin, they did it in 1910.
