BEAUFORT, Mo. — A 13-year-old boy missing since the beginning of the week was found alive in a suburban St. Louis home, along with a 15-year-old boy missing since 2002, authorities said Friday.

wowowowowowowow- I am so happy- can you imagine the parents!!!! The family of the boy missing for 5 years?

wow!

BarTopDancer 01-12-2007 04:57 PM

Oh wow! That's amazing!

So often these end so tragically- this is amazing.

I can not even begin to imagine the family of the older boy-how long they have wondered and now they are on their way to see him and hug him again.

It makes me want to cry....glerk- at work...no crying.

My god, you go looking for one lost boy and find two. Unbelievable.

What a happy ending to a tragic story.

Talk about ripped from the episode guides. Something similar happened in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit earlier this year.

Also, read The Deep End of the Ocean for a fictional look at the aftermath of such a recovery.

My first thought is - what if you've already grieved the death of a child and they suddenly appear? What of the child's mental state and quite probable Stockholm syndrome? This is going to be rough for everyone. But a happy kind of rough. :)

Freakin' amazing.

Though this one line was interesting:
Quote:

The boys were found in a Kirkwood home belonging to Michael Devlin, 41, who has been charged with one count of first-degree kidnapping, Sheriff Gary Toelke said.
(Emphasis mine)

I am interested in why it is only ONE charge. However, this may be the answer (from later in the story):
Quote:

Toelke said authorities were still investigating the motive behind the abductions. Franklin County Prosecutor Robert Parks said more charges are likely to be filed.

I Know My First Name is Steven true life mini-series about Steven Stayner starring Corkie Nemec. So sad. The boy was told by a reverend his family moved away, and that he was his new "father". He abused him until he was too old, then made him help abduct another boy. He later reunited with his family after many years (like 8 I think), grew up to become a police officer, then died in a motor cycle crash.

I am so happy for the boys and their families. I wish them all the best. Does anyone else think the younger boy's name sounds like Obi-Wan Kenobi?

Not until you mentioned it. And now I can't get it out of my head.

This is what I thought of, as well. Also along the issues that CP brought up. He {Steven Stayner}, if I remember, had a very difficult time overcoming what happened to him {and he brought himself to the police station, if I remember correctly, to save the boy the man made him kidnap for him}.

And, his brother, Cary Stayer {sp}, his brother, is the man who murdered the mother, daughter and friend on their trip to Yosemite and also killed the worker by the river. They claim he was also affected by what happened to Steven.

It is a happy time but the road will be rough.

I am glad they are home.
