RtS: Georgia's Greek Restaurant and Deli Rank the Swank - Restaurants and Bars Overall Swank Rank Georgia's Greek Restaurant and Deli 323 NW 85th Street Seattle, WA 1/20/2007 http://www.pe04.com/georgiarestaurant/menu.php The Lowdown Garlicky custardy goodness! Food Decor Service __________________________________________________ The Gig Early dinner The Grub Two souvlaki dinner sandwiches, one with salad, one with avgolemono soup. To go - pitas and containers of tzatziki and skorthalia, some honey cookies, and something with phyllo and custard. The Scene This gets the 5 cocktail rating based on the strength of its food. And what food it is! Now, it's not gourmet, but for a hole-in-the-wall plastic table cloth place, it was great. Plus it was a very reasonable bargain. The sandwiches were very filling. Huge chunks of lamb and veggies with tzatziki wrapped in pita. BIG bowl of soup with it - no meagre cup. The soup was more lemony than I'm used to, but still very good. The dips - holy heck if you like garlic, this is the place for you. The tzatziki is so garlicky I almost can't eat it. Almost.... Very yummy. The honey cookies were so....honey-ish! They just tasted like honey mixed with just enough grain to make a cookie. Not what I was expecting, but I'd definitely get more. The other dessert was also really tasty. Wish I knew what it was called! Next time we might try the appetizer platter - or the calamari! If they can do a superior calamari we'll start making it a regular stop. They also sell some greek food items - including some cheeses I can never find at regular stores. It's kind of out of the way for us normally, but right by our music lessons, so I suspect we will be stopping by again in two weeks. Next time I'm trying some wine! |

Good god, the only Greek food I've had for a long while now is freaking Daphene's. This makes me realize I really need to remedy that. Mmmmmmm. Do they deliver across state lines? |

Alas, I suspect you'll need to venture up here to indulge. Next time you're visiting relatives here, it's in the Greenwood neighborhood. 85th is the main cross-street. Get off I5 at the 85th street exit, head west, cross Aurora and Greenwood, it's on your left. |
