Cirque du Soleil Celebrates the Super Bowl

Cirque du Soleil will be performing during the Super Bowl pre-game show.
Quote:

Inspired by Brazilian street theatre, sixty professional performers and hundreds of students invade the stadium with a high-energy extravaganza of music, dance, gymnastics and circus arts linked by a splashy, multicolored football theme.
Here's their webpage with more details.

Sounds like it could be cool, or at least better than listening to the usual lame announcer banter.

And here are some terrible pictures from Dave Barry of the media preview of both the Cirque pregame and the Prince half time.

Hmmm, I usually don't think of Super Bowl and Cirque du Soleil in the same inkling ... but, hey, this is just about the only thing that will get me to watch part of this dinosauer tradition.

Looks like I'll have to watch the pregame at least, but isn't it like a couple hours long?! Maybe I'll just set the DVR.

When I was channel surfing today I caught the Lorador brothers(Mystere) on Oprah, I just love to watch them!

Are those the boys on the CD cover?

If so ...

... d'uh!

Yes, they are on the cover and they are smoking hot, but I also love their act. Their abilities never ceases to amaze me. Their whole family has amazing talent and they're not bad on the eyes either.

innerSpaceman 02-02-2007 10:00 AM

They blew me away several times. (Alas, though I chatted with them post-show on one occassion, nothing further along those lines happened).

The first time I saw Mystere was from front row center, and the brothers had a startling effect on me. Their talents are amazing, their hotness is global warming, and being that close to them while they displayed those attributes was mildly life-altering.

I cannot agree with you more. From the front row you can see every muscle ripple and bulge, yum, and the concentration on their faces.

I have never had the pleasure of speaking to them but I did talk to many others including the older man of my life Brian Dewhurst.

I see Mystere every time I'm in Vegas, usually more than once just so I can see the Loradors and Brian.

I think they should do an excerpt from Zumanity.

Curious what the Cirque fans thought of that. I'm a live fan in that I've never been impressed by Cirque in televised form but have loved it when I see them live.

So, the pre-game thing wasn't very impressive to me so I don't know if it is that history cropping up or if it really was unimpressive.
