The MousePod - MousePod #24 - Howdy, Good Neighbors!

Saludos Amigos. The Three Caballeros.
Two Disney Animated Classics that almost none of my friends have seen.
Created as a result of FDR’s “Good Neighbor Policy”, these two anthology films represent Disney’s take on the cultures of Central and South America.
And they are very good. One of them is great.
Two movies discussed in just under two hours. Enjoy!

ooooh, I've seen them! Well, it was 20 years ago, so I don't have the best recollection. I found them mildly enjoyable, and some of the segments were great. But I've never had a burning desire to seek them out again.

If that changes after I listen to the lastest mousepod, is there any way to find them now?

Both are available on DVD. Just add them to your Netflix queue

well I will ... if the mousepod convinces me they are worth more than the once-in-a-lifetime screenings I've already enjoyed and consigned them to.

Keep in mind, these films have the art styling of Mary Blair and it was one of her drawings in one of these two films that inspired Walt Disney to create It's A Small World.

That motivate ya ?

Saludos Amigos is more worthy of another go. For me The Three Cabelleros is solidly in the "ok, I've seen it now I never need to again" category (I saw both of them a couple years ago when they were releasedon DVD).

Snowflake....don't encourage him!! :p

That being said, while this was the longest edition so far, it was the least rambling. Sounds like you're getting better at organizing your notes (and I think your enthusiasm for the subject matter kept you more focused for once). Good show. Really liked all the music, as usual.

To put a finer point on the "Was Enchanted Musical an attraction" question, it's always a debate whenever we bring up the possibility of a geek quest. Here's the thing, theaters are listed as attractions (so when Snow White was playing, the Fantasyland Theater was under attractions), but the actual show titles are listed separately (currently on an entirely separate sheet of paper, previously under a separate section on the map). So it really is a gray area. But I'm willing to accept it as an attraction. I mean, you don't go to the Golden Horseshoe to watch the stage, implicitly whatever show is there IS the attraction whether it's listed that way or not. But there's definitely room for debate.

To muddy the issue even further, a listener just wrote in asking about the Wishing Well. He gives Snow White 2 no matter what...

Calling the Wishing Well an attraction's a stretch, imo.

Meanwhile...what the hell are you doing up at 5AM?

Aha! I downloaded but have not yet listened. So I guess he did play the voicemail I left on the podline, sorry.

I'll look forward to hearing all about the good neighbor policy via Disney, I don't think I've seen Saludos Amigos or maybe I have and have not seen The Three Caballeros. ANyway, off to update my Netflix queue.
