Is Super Bowl Sunday slower or busier at the parks?

This may have been brought up before, but is today supose to be busier, or slower than usual at DL or DCA? I use to hear that it was slower traditionally, but it seems that it may have gotten busier over the years.

Past experience - the park will be more crowded, full of Mom's, todlers, and gay men. Oh, and we'll be there as well, since our AP's expire today

Well, according to this:

Quote:

“That’s just not true,” Disneyland spokesman John McClintock told the Los Angeles Times in 1999. “We get asked that every year. Super Bowl Sunday is not much slower than any other Sunday in January.”
Anecdotally, people say that it is not only standard size crowds, but with a higher proportion of moms with kids.

Apparently at the moment there is a back-up even getting into the parking garage

Yes, Disneyland is routinely crowded on SuperBowl Sunday. Which is why, as a gay man, I don't consider going to the Park as a viable alternative to the game.

Magic Mountain, on the other hand, is notoriously empty today ... and I know certain people who still select this as their once-a-year Six Flags.

Food, drink, and tons of people having fun. I'll be attending my sister's super bowl party as usual. Hooray!

I'm here at Epcot today, and from my little corner of the park, it seems busy for a Sunday, but there is a decidedly South American vibe with this crowd. Not a lot of single moms with kids at all, and I haven't noticed any preponderance of gay men. i'll be done soon, and I'll want to find somewhere to eat when I leave, but I will have to avoid any place with a TV. (No Hooters tonight.)

Thanks! I'll be going to see Epic Movie at DTD, and may wonder into the park to see what it's like. I can always leave if it's too crowded.

BTW, I know plenty of people, male and female, who are gay and into sports. Sheesh, the stereotyping around here! ;)

Oh, and this is thread 666 in the Disneyland section! Just FYI.......

We were there this morning - at about 9:30am, the flyover was backed up about a third of the way over the bridge, and it took probably about 15 minutes to actually get into the parking structure. The esplanade to load trams was really crowded, and once we got into the park, it was pretty crowded there too.

Superbowl Sunday being empty at the park is an urban myth.

It used to be...12 years ago ( think it was 12) we went. Everything was a walk-on but Fantasyland. Even that cleared out by 2-3. But there were 2 other HUGE factors that may have caused the deadness. 1, it poured the night before, and was still threatening that morning and 2, the Super Bowl was being held in the Rose Bowl that year.
