Help me make my sons birthday away from home a FANTASTIC one!

I would love for members of my LoT family to help me make my son's birthday- his last one away from home- extra special.

I won't belabor history here- some know, some don't- but my son Davis has not lived at home since November 2005-and he will be celebrating his birthday, his 17th, away from home again this year.

Happily he will be coming home this year-but not in time to celebrate his birthday with us on February 27th.

I would love for members who have been my friends and family, and even those who don't know his story- to help make his day special by sending him birthday cards. No gifts, no packages, just birthday cards.

If you feel moved to help surprise him and give him a gift of joy please send me a PM and I will provide you with his address.

I want to say thanks up front to anyone who is willing to help me make this last birthday away from his home and family a special one. I want people who will not judge his past but will help us celebrate his growth, his success and his future!

Hmm, maybe a little backstory is in order.

Just a little-

Davis had a rough time growing up. I chose some lousy people to be in our lives- and sadly they did some damage to him. We got out of those situations but he carried that damage with him-he got into some legal issues, and at 13 he slit both wrists. My dad was there to save his life- and he has healed from that- but the damage inside continued to make things hard for him.

He got into more and more trouble- and ended up having to leave home. Once for 10 months, and this time since November 2005.

Since then he has gotten back to being a grade A student, he is planning college, he has really gotten his life on track and should be coming home this summer and going back to school for his senior year.

I want to celebrate his life- give him something to smile about even though he is still not home.

The more people who will participate the better- doing so makes you a part of something good- to touch someone's life who has struggled and come through it.

That deserves applause :)

Thanks to everyone who has asked for his address-I would love to see more!

I'll bump and say I'm sending one. Knowing where he's been and where he's going deserves a celebration... even if it's as tiny as a birthday card. :)

Thanks- so much!

I would love to see alot of people here send them - I can just imagine the eclectic and fun cards people would choose.

Please join in- it will mean the world to one kid who doesn't get to spend his birthday with anyone from his family. :)

cards or e-cards?
yeah, sounds like he has earned some recognition for coming back stronger from all that

he can't get email-has to be physical cards.

No gifts, no goodies-just the cards. :)

His birthday is the 27th of February. I got this started so people would have plenty of time to get involved :)

Thanks so much! I sent you a PM- you too Lisa.
