Now the Russians have found a weird sea creature-- really, really weird

The "thing" including video.

Couple that with commentary by Keith Olbermann:
[R]esidents of the Rostov region of Russia supplying what may be the first hard and fast evidence of aliens from outer space having arrived on this plant. That thing there came out of the Sea of Azov after a very strong storm. It looked kind of like a shark, they say, but with a long tail. It weighed around 225 pounds. It had that face. And it made squeaking sounds.

What did the residents of Rostov do with our interplanetary friend? Of course, they ate him. One resident said it was the best meal he‘d ever had. Well, if they‘re right, and it was an alien, I‘m sure his relatives will be back soon, and they‘ll be able to say the same thing about the people of Rostov.

freaky. but I do believe
a) it was upside down
b) Ive seen one before, but cant recall where

as far as the "moaning"...Ive heard fish make some pretty odd sounds, so one gasping for (air?) could make all sorts of rukus

still...kinda creepy. Im more worried that these people just decided to eat it

Is DoodleDuck around? We need a professional opinion on this one.

Sting rays have a "face" too. It looks similar to a sting rays face.

Very weird that they decided to eat it.

I smell a hoax.

looks like an upside down variant on one of these

Longnose Skate

The underside of a longnose skate. Don't know what kind it is specifically (and 200 pounds would be a really big one) but that family of beasts was my first thought too. And they do make good eating.

Reminds me of when I was working in the salmon cannery and I was so exhausted that when I came across an unusually mutilated salmon I convinced myself it had come across some very monstrous creature.

They're clearly angling to be in the next Borat movie.

Not only a hoax, but you used to be able to buy these at tacky dockside gift shops. Sometimes, the wings of a small ray would be cut to form little arms and legs, which curled up as the carcass dried out. The result was a twisted looking monster, usually dangling from a wire to hang as a mobile. It would be accompanied by a little card identifying it as the rare "devil fish" or similar nonsense.

I haven't seen one of these in a long whle, but I do remember, about a decade ago, some friends of mine at the Great Movie Ride got suckered into believing that an acquaintance of theirs had acquired an alien corpse from a government facility. They were completely fooled, and thoroughly freaked out about it. When I explained to them what it was (they had xeroxed pictures of the critter with them at the ride) they got kind of pissed off. Not at the guy who hoaxed them, but at me!

Ahhhh, skate. Skate is yummy.

I still love Keith Olbermann's commentary. :D
