FOUND: Drive-In Theatre
I miss those long ago drive-ins where you packed food, friends and blankets into the trunk. I've heard stories that there are drive-ins "some where" but no one really seemed to know. But just by fate and some circumstance, I'll be going to see Grindhouse at Mission Tiki Drive in this Saturday.
You must check out Mission Tiki's site which is Swakolicious. :D |
Very cool! :snap:

Lani and I go to the drive-in in Sacramento at least once a year (although it is skanky instead of swanky).
|
Looks really cool. I think I'll have to make a voyage...

Drive-ins rock! We have one about forty minutes south of us and we make the trip down as often as we can during the summer months. I have a ball going. Their snack bar looks and feels like something straight out of the late fifties. It's totally like stepping back in time. We've seen both Pirates films there and it was a blast seeing those in that setting.

This is AWESOME! A bit of a haul for the car-less, but worth it. So, so fun! And Grindhouse would be the PERFECT movie to see there.

Of all the cool places to check out. They have nicely laid out Website too.:)

A friend once had an idea (though I am not sure if it was an original): a DIVE-in theatre
At the time, he was decidedly single and lived in a very singles apartment complex in Studio City. He knew it would be a wildly popular idea to set up a large projector and screen along with a 5.1 sound system aound the community pool. The idea being that we could watch the movie from the comfort of the pool. Alas, we never pulled it off, but it was a good dream! |
OMG - I finally went to the site and discovered that this in Southern California (Montclair).
|
A dive-in theater might be fun but it wouldn't be very good for watching movies (it would have to be overlit and there'd be too much ambient noise).
