Sharkingest birthday ever!

Yes, I had another birthday this past Good Friday. (number 42 for anyone keeping track.) Matterhorn Fan and HTHBellcaptain treated me to Greek food and some lovable shark goods. First up, a Matchbox playset in which a shark pops up through a fishing dock and sends the little toy truck flying down a ramp:

Next up, a cool car that, at the touch of a button, pops up into an adorable mecha-shark:

And to top it off, in the mail that day, I received an amazing sculpture from a fellow named Jim McPhee, who created this very large, very precise replica, not of a true great white, but of Bruce, the temperamental mechanical shark from JAWS. It's astonishingly perfect, and a nerdy dream come true for me. (Yeah, I bought it for myself, but it took a while to get here, and finding it waiting on my doorstep after an evening of good food and good friends, well, it was a very nice b'day indeed.)

It's about the size of my cat Tsunami, and as I was unpacking it, Tsunami stuck his head in the beasts' mouth, a true circus lion tamer moment that would have made for an incredible picture, but my camera battery was dead. Attempts to recreate the moment have been a complete failure.

Happy belated. So has your age made you wiser? Have you, for example, discovered the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything?

So sorry to have missed your birthday (if you'd only told us earlier).
I look forward to wishing you a belated when I see you in October - you know you can always come out here...

Wiser? Probably not. But perhaps better able to decide which things are worth my ever-shrinking time and which are not.

And yes, I've known the answer to that second question since about seventh grade. :D
