Who remembers Burple?

I am soliciting help from the fine folks I've come to know, love, and trust when it comes to the lowdown on really obscure crap. While I have some strong memories of Burple, I need to corroborate my memories with kids of the mid to late 80s (a.k.a. my age group) on certain bits of memory that have faded over the last two decades.

Burple:

I remember orange and grape flavors. Were there others?

Did they have "minis"? I'm remembering minis, though I'm not sure... I really remember the larger size that expanded to the size of a lunch thermos.

If anyone out there remembers Burple... well 1.) that would be awesome and 2.) it would be very helpful.

I'm squarely in the suggested age group but so far as I can recall have never heard of the stuff.

In looking it up I now know what it is but have also learned about Burple Glassware and House of Kolors Burple Kandy Paint.

Oh yeah, I found the Glassware stuff - I had no idea there was a burple style of glass. Oh, I learn sooo much with this job.

On another subject, does anyone else remember peanut butter filled Combos?

They either no longer make them or never did. Hmmm...

Burple, no recollection.

Combos look vaguely familliar (my instant reaction was ick) but nothing came up using my zip here, nor my zip from VA.

I don't know if they were combos brand, but I vividly remember* munching on peanut butter filled pretzle things in the late 80s/early 90s.

Humm, no personal experince, but my friend Google says there was just the one flavor

I remember peanut butter filled combos. I haven't seen them in years but look for Snyders pretzels. They make peanut butter filled bites. I'm pretty sure they come in regular and soudough.

Trader Joe's makes yummy peanut butter filled pretzles.

CoasterMatt 04-15-2007 01:00 PM

The Snyder's ones are less yummy than the dog treats I've tried.

LSPoorEeyorick 04-15-2007 02:21 PM

Heh heh. I don't think Erica's looking for a latter-day peanut butter pretzel!

I think your friend Google is incorrect, Moonliner. I remember different Combo flavors vividly, including cheddar, nacho, pizza, and-- yes-- peanut butter.
