NEW YORK (AP) -- Kitty Carlisle Hart, whose long career spanned Broadway, opera, television and film, including the classic Marx Brothers movie "A Night at the Opera," has died at age 96, her son said Wednesday.

Christopher Hart said his mother had been in and out of the hospital since contracting pneumonia over the Christmas holidays.

"She passed away peacefully" at home, said Hart. "She had such a wonderful life, and a great long run, it was a blessing."

Hart had appeared for years on the popular game show "To Tell the Truth" as a celebrity panelist.

Oh, God Bless Mrs. Moss Hart. Like Moss himself, she too had "warmth and charmth."

Not to mention A Night at the Opera.

RIP

Kitty Go Gone

About a week ago I went through all the names associated with the Marx Bros and I discovered that Kitty was more or less the last living connection with the classic Marx Bros period of Night at the Opera, etc. Everyone else was dead. Yet, there was Kitty, not only still alive, but appearing in caberet shows at the age of 95! I got it in my mind that I should write her a letter and ask her about the old days.

I am, apparently, too late.

This is sad news. I always enjoyed her on What's My Line.

Seeing this causes a sigh.

I see the Hiltons, Lohans, Spears, and Olsens of today. I think of Kitty Carlisle and wonder if we will ever see her kind of class again.
