Mike Oldfield's TUBULAR BELLS - free!

It was quite an anomaly in 1973, a twenty minute instrumental that got loads of radio play and sold millions of copies. Its opening moments became famous as "Theme from The Exorcist." Made up from thousands of overdubs played by a then unknown young musician, it was the recording that launched Virgin Records and helped found an empire.

If your CD collection lacks this seminal piece of seventies-ness, and you live somewhere where you can buy the Sunday Mail from London (several Orlando area shops carry it), they are including the entire album on CD free in this upcoming Sunday's issue while supplies last.

I've been a lifelong fan of Mike Oldfield. TB is his best known and most popular work, which he has re-invented a few times since then. (For my money, it isn't his greatest work, though. I'd give that honor to his third long composition, OMMADAWN, or to the riotous and difficult AMAROK.)

Anyhow, I'm posting (also free!) an excerpt from my own "swankified" cover version. Where the original was perfect for passing around a joint, my version may be better suited for mixing up a cocktail. It'll only be there for a little while, so enjoy Flippyshark's tribute cover

My CD collection does in fact lack this piece. But I don't have the room right now to double my CD collection by getting this one.

And why bother, when the wickedly cool flippyshark version was not only free, it was instant?!

I'm wickedly cool! (*blushes*) Thanks for the kind words, folks. I've got a few more tunes (of my own) brewing, but the process takes gobs of time. (Sure is fun, though!)
