Haunted Kitchen (okay, not really)

This cracked me up last night. I was deglazing my roasting pan to make gravy, and I was basically cooking it down on the stove, when it started to bang. That is, the pan on the cooktop. The liquid wasn't even boiling yet, which is what I found so amusing. Anyway, if ya didn't know any better, it would look like my range was haunted, LOL.

Yes, but how did your "ghost roast" turn out?

(Hardy har har! Sorry! I couldn't resist!) :p ;)

I enjoyed your clip! That would have wigged the socks right off of me! :)

Okay maybe I'm just nuts.. but I dont get it. Anyone care to explain the "joke" to me?

The water molecules, though not quite boiling, were still quite active. My roasting pan, when heated, is a slightly uneven (bottom) surface, as are the burners on the electric stove. So, with all the water molecules shifting around, the pan started to bang back and forth seemingly of its own accord. It was just funny because it made it look like my kitchen was haunted (I probably should have gotten a clip from further back, but I wanted to be sure you could see the pan moving). I don't know, I thought it was funny.

I did laugh, did know the pan was moving, and convinced my son your stove was haunted.

I still jsut didnt understand what I was missing. Thank you for explaining! I was looking for a cat paw or such shaking the pan.
