Windows Vista and Office 2003
Willitblend?
OK, in all seriousness, as I begin looking for laptops, I need to find out if I can install Office 2003 on a Vista, since I still have my second license available. I've also heard that they might start offering a choice between XP and Vista, though I'm not sure if I believe it. Does anyone know if they work together, or if there are any major bugs? |
This guy seems to think so. I don't have any personal experience with it.
|
It is unlikely they will offer XP again. You can always re-do the machine with XP software if you want XP that badly.
|
I don't want XP so much as I want to use the extra license I've got... ;)
|
One of the manufacturers (I'm thinking Dell) just reinstituted offering XP on certain models due to customer demand.

A few days later, we had need to order another and I coudln't get one with Vista unless I went with a completely different product line. Our primary software won't run on Vista. NOt to mention not wanting to buy a brand new OS for a business. Haven't bought a computer from them since - and won't. Not sure if it's still the case, but you just couldn't walk into a store and buy a computer with XP Pro (or not pro for that matter.) Stupid. |
Yeah, it's Dell.

OOOOO Good for Dell!
Thanks Alex! |
FWIW, I just got a new computer a couple of days ago at work and it is running Vista. I have had no problems with Office 2K3. Although I have not used PowerPoint. But Word, Excel, and Outlook all run fun.
But so far, I have not seen/experienced anything (other than compatibility issues) different from XP other than the prettier interface. |
Thank you! I will hesitate less, now.
