Oh, those rowdy Boston Pops fans

Fight breaks out in audience of Boston Pops

BOSTON - Something else popped at the Boston Pops’ opening night concert — a brawl broke out at Symphony Hall.
More on this amusing story.

Wow, that's about the last place I'd expect to see fists flying.

Try going to the opera! One night an usher was relentlessly jingling the keys and coins in his pocket and a fight broke out and he and my best buddy were thrown out of the performance. I, of course (ahem) caught it all on tape. Bastard, he ruined a great performance of Romeo & Juliette.

I remember somewhere we were talking about opera and rock concerts... (Oh where, oh where was that at?) (Oh yeah, talking about Chicago....) You really go to some exciting operas! I think I'll have to go with you sometime!

You can take Bostonians, dust 'em off, dress 'em up, and take 'em to the symphony ... but they're still from Boston.

Bunch o' hooligans. To the bone. :p

Gemini Cricket 05-10-2007 10:15 PM

Er uh hooligans!

AllyOops! 05-11-2007 11:23 AM

Hahahahaha!!!! I'm sorry, I know I shouldn't laugh...but wow!

Brawls a 'plenty at both the Boston Pops and the opera! Who knew? I'm just picturing tiny white-gloved fists pummeling, top hats flying every which way and monacles shattering in a cartoon scuffle cloud. I bet it looked like a bunch of Mr. Peanuts engaged in a battle royale.

Now, that's entertainment. ;)

Kevy Baby 05-11-2007 11:47 AM

FWIW: Ben Folds was performing that evening as well. Don't know if that had anything to do with it.

AllyOops! 05-11-2007 12:26 PM

Who knew Ben Folds still performed? Personally, I'd rather watch an evening with Gentle Ben.

Aw, yes. Who can forget angst-ridden, socially-aware, college-alt 90's rock? (I can). Why not have a Night at the Met featuring Toad The Wet Sprocket?

Sigh. So no Colonel Klink style monacles & shiny top hats a flyin'? Oh, well. Visions of patchouli-scented flannel bits sailing in the midst just ain't as fun.
:(

;) :p I tease because I love.
