Wal-Mart Shuns Gay Groups
Wal-Mart, the world's largest retailer, has decided to curb its support of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) organizations after conservative Christian groups threatened a boycott, and after some of its own employees expressed disapproval.
... and our Nations gay population shrugs and continues to shop at Target. |
Good golly, Wal-Mart has more issues then I do, and that's saying quite a lot.
|
Well, as if I needed another reason not to darken the door of a Walmart, I don't but so noted.
|
I have never set foot in a WalMart and I don't eve plan on doing it.
|
At first, I was thinking 'Stupid Wal Mart, yaddah yaddah' but then I was just thinking well it's probably a good thing for those groups not to associate themselves with the horror that is Wal Mart.
At the same time, their reasoning was that WM didn't want to associate with controversial issues but they're bowing to pressure from religious organizations about controversy that these groups are creating/perpetuating. Seems kind of hypocritical to me. I don't shop at WalMart and don't plan to. Target works for me. |
I refuse to shop at Target.
But I don't really go to Wal-Mart all that often either. |

Being shunned by Wal*Mart is significantly better than being kicked out of a leper colony.
|
I thought they were achieving this strategy already with their product mix and marketing strategy?
|
Shunning gay people apparently means that stores can give money to gay causes if they want, there'll still be training about gay issues for employees, and all the various GLBT employee groups will continue without issue.
I'd like to go back to 1988 and have Elle McPherson shun me like that. Quote:
