John McCain against man-sweater on man-sweater love.

Story

Quote:

In the final days of his imploding candidacy, John McCain has taken a page out of Richard Nixon's play book, finding increasingly bizarre explanations for his political failures. Strangest of all: He reportedly feels his handlers forced him to wear "gay sweaters."

And to think I used to have respect for this man....

(I lost it a loooooooong time ago.... I think he is an absolute nutjob. Bomb bomb Iran indeed.)

I feel near panic thinking about him being in charge of the country, but for the most part...that goes for any of them at this point.

Capt Jack for president. (if that dont scare ya, nothin will)

This story was a joke on Wait Wait Don't Tell Me over the weekend ("it's not a choice, they're just made that way") and the quote given was very murky as to whether "gay sweaters" was a direct McCain quote or a quote of the guy telling a reporter about the tirade.

If he did say it, I wonder if he meant it (not that it makes it better) to mean he looks homosexual in them or in the "popular among today's youth" gay=odd and or lame meaning.

If the source of the story is a younger staffer I wonder if whatever McCain did say got translated into the vernacular of today's youth (playing WoW I've come to realize just how common the gay = lame usage gets used).

I'm sure it was meant as the latter. Still an unwise thing to say as a potential Presidential candidate...especially to a bunch of people you're about to fire.

No argument there, which is why I'm very curious for confirmation on whether that is what he (McCain) said or if it is a quote of what the person talking about it said. Radar isn't the most journalistically strict organization in the world and Wait Wait presented it confusingly; something like "One source who was there said McCain was angry about having to wear, and I quote 'gay sweater'"

Either way, the sudden massive implosion of the McCain campaign has been startling to see. I'm not too upset (I didn't like him the first time around when everbody was swooning), but still startling.

Indeed - especially when as an injured war vet he could have easily just called it "lame" without offense.

If he's taking orders from subordinates to wear gay sweaters, then he's not the strong leader this country needs.
