Today's second notable death - Tom Snyder I used to enjoy staying up late and watching Tom Snyder. I particularly relish the memory of his interview with a rude and cantankerous Johnny Rotten. |
|
I loved Tom Snyder (and UI loved Dan Ackroyd's take on him, as well) he was crusty and a lot of fun to watch. |

I remember reading an article on Train travel while riding Amtrak by him. Also he had a pretty cool TV interview with Ward Kimball at his home. They were Playing with all of Mr. Kimball's toy train collection. I believe this is on YouTube. He may have been a cranky guy, but he sure met a lot of interesting people. |

He was a late night staple for me when I was a teen. I adored him. |

I had never heard of him until the Late Late Show (his earlier talk shows were well before my time) but I enjoyed him quite a bit. I'm really surprised to learn that he was only 71 since I would have put him around that age when Late Late Show was one. |

After Ackroyd skewered him, it could be tough to watch him and not start laughing but I always thought he was very good at what he did. I often wondered what had happened to him. A sad loss, indeed. |

As is frequently the case, Mark Evanier has nice comments. |
