New/Deal on Laptop Advice
Easy question -- My dad is looking to purchase a new laptop and I was wondering which places y'all would recommend for purchasing one. Fry's Electronics is horrible (both in their stuff breaking and in customer service) and though I currently have a desktop Dell XPS, I can't wholeheartedly recommend Dell either these days. Oh wait, what about Circuit City? (ha, ha, ha.) ;)
Basically all he needs it for is for Outlook, to connect to the web via wireless, to watch DVDs, word processing, etc., so a very basic system. I assume all new systems are coming now with Windows Vista, but because he isn't playing any computer games that shouldn't be a problem. So where should I look for a cheap new laptop? I'm hoping to find one for $600ish -- really it doesn't need bells and whistles, but it shouldn't be slow as molasses either. Thanks for the advice! |
Notebook Shop rocks
http://www.notebookshop.com/ Not sure where you Dad is, but they have six stores throughout So Cal. |
I got my new one at Costco. They have their own tech support and they double the warranty. It's an HP.

New/Deal on Laptop Advice
I got mine at Circuit City and mine was like $659 i believe. Costco would be another place. I found it i wasn't even being pushed to buy extras etc like at Best Buy or Fry's i hate Fry's. Plus Matt was with me. Rather painless really was helped and in and out in like 15 minutes i'd say. Stay away from Toshiba (my dad has one and it is extra ass slow) seriously piece of junk. Someone i knew had a Dell and his froze and he smashed his to pieces lmao... I have an Acer and i love mine. :) Hasn't given me any problems so far with it. Good luck.
