We survived. Yay. It was a gazillion degrees out at 7 AM and after schelping from the Disneyland Hotel over to the Timon lot for the start I was already tired.
We had so much fun. The over achiever Swanies actually ran the whole thing. Maddy and I did fast paced walking whilst photographing everything. Besides my grumbling about the need to outlaw strollers in the event we didn't have any problems.
The course took us from Timon, through the tramway into the Esplanade, into Disneyland to the right and then backstage by the hat shop on Main street, around backstage emerging between Pizza Port and Innoventions, around the Matterhorn up to Small World then backstage again behind Fantasyland emerging between Fantasyland and Big Thunder Ranch, then through Fantasyland and the castle into Frontierland, around through Adventureland and down Main Street, back out through the Esplanade and into DCA, through Hollywood then backstage behind Tower and back into Bugs Land, around through by Soarin' and GRR, around pier and then back out backstage by the Tortilla Factory to the finish line.
We have no idea what our times were as I forgot my watch and we were so far back at the start line it took us about 8 minutes after the start to actually get there.
The funnest part for us were the cast members spaced out all along the route cheering us on and the characters some of which you don't see often. Maddy said at one point "isn't it great that the put the characters out just where you need them?" We stopped and took photos with some (obviously we weren't in it for the win when we're taking character photos). Clarabelle wouldn't let us though which kinda sucked but oh well.
We speed walked the whole way, didn't get swept (which was our lofty goal) and had a blast. We'll definitely do it again. The heat sucked but we made it through fine.
Walking back (couldn't they have at least had a shuttle) from Timon to the Hotel Disneyland was just opening. Maddy said lets go so in we went and had the photopass people take our pictures with our plastic Medals and numbers.
