RIP Peet's
Not the chain, just the founder. I know there are Peet's afficionado's on LoT.
Have a cup today in his memory. |
:( :coffee:

Well, after 41 years of drinking his coffee he dies at 87. I'd say he found that coffee isn't so bad for your health after all. :snap:
He was quite a successfull businessman, IMHO. He was personable, and cared about his customers (from what I hear, as I never met him). RIP Pete. I'll see you next to the Heaven Roast Coffee Pot some day. :coffee: |
I didn't go there too often in the early '80s because I lived on the south side of campus, but it's a little strange to think that something that seemed so "Berkeley" at the time became a national chain.

This thread title scared the crap out of me.
I'm on of these, what do they call them ... addicts. RIP to their founder and thanks for the best brew in town. |
... easily my favorite place to get an iced coffee.

:coffee: To Mr. Peet.

But in other news, I'm no where near a Peet's. I'll have to stop by tomorrow - can't sully this with a Starbuck's coffee. |
He was born in a very well known cheese making area. I went there in 2004 where they were weighing the cheese for auction. Alkmaar is really cool area of Holland. I love Peet's. Sorry to see him go. Hopefully the company doesn't get big for itself.

I paid tribute at my nearby altar to Alfred Peet on Saturday. He rewarded me with a Madagascar Vanilla Freddo.
