I am tearfully sorry to post this news. Luciano Pavarotti is dead at 71.

The very definition of "larger than life," and even though that implies a bit of a joke, it's true. It's hard to imagine there will ever be another figure in classical music with his popularity, warm persona and unbelievable crossover appeal.

He was then taken to a better hospital and his condition was upgraded to living.

Although personally, I'd be more concerned with imminent death. Afterwards? Not so much.

D'oh! That wasn't there when I started posting this thread. (I don't think)

Anyhow, I had read of his serious condition earlier this week, so this wasn't unexpected. Just awfully sad.

Unfortunately, it appears his condition has actually been downgraded to death.




So sorry.

I heard he passed away and eventually died...

Anyway, it's a true loss to the music world.

I don't think you can say the word "Opera" without thinking of the mans face and voice.
