Tron Sequel Gets Its Director!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joseph Kosinski -- who will be directing the Logan's Run remake, and is best known for the award-winning commercials he's directed for Nike, Apple, and Nintendo -- is "in final negotiations to develop and direct" the new Tron. Steven Lisberger, who wrote and directed the 1982 original, will be one of the sequel's producers.

I have only one question -- will The Dude be involved? It wouldn't be Tron without Bridges.

The Dude abides.

I'm almost ridiculously excited about this news. I don't revisit the original film very often, but whenever I do, I enjoy it a lot more than I think I'm going to. Whee!

It's a "we'll see" for me. Loved the original because it was pretty original. See what they come up with. BTW, Tron is playing at the New Beverly sometime this month. :)

I thought it was pretty bad. Cool looking though, and that goes a long way towards cult movie status.

IMDB says it's not coming out until 2011. By that time, we'll probably be beyond the tech. that they are using...sad really, I guess I'll hold my breath for the 09 release of GI Joe.

They could bring back the People Mover, and the SuperSpeed tunnel as a movie promotion.

I concur. I know I'm probably going to be blasted (somehow) for this, but it was one of my favorite rides, as a kid, as a teen, and as an adult for a way to beat the heat and get myself back into the 80s.

We were just talking about this at the Park today (triggered by fond Tron Tunnel memories). K said tron 2 was to officially known as T2ON. Hahaha.

K loves the original, I think it's a piss-poor film. But it has indeed achieved cult status, and I love anything recalling the visuals. So I'm looking forward to the sequel or reboot or whatever it is.

Someone, was it Disneyphile(?), showed up somewhere with the MoST RaD Tron sneakers. Fej has awesome Tron Tattoos, and my friend Cory was a damn good Master Control at last Octobers Haunted Mansion Halloween Party.

For such a sucky movie, Tron RuLEs!
