An interesting read, CP. The one that seems the wisest to me:

Be kind; everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

Some good, some bad- some insane.

People say a good many things and invariably you can find a quote to prove or support your point- so in the end it means nothing other than someone agrees with your point of view.

Yes, and some people, dare I say it, can express a point of view in better ways than others.

True- and people then use their words to express a point they themselves were unable to articulate.

..and since there are so many quotes from all views- you can always find something that supports your own.

Then again some people, some people like quotes because they are witty, clever, or inspirational without any thought as to how they might support an argument, or uphold a personal belief.

I wish people would argue in epic verse instead of relying on some bumper sticker sized quote - What would Lord Byron Do? - there's the beginnings of an interesting discussion.

Hummm... I think I see an entire line of T-shirts in that post.

WWLBD (What would Lord Byron Do)
WWND (What would Nietzsche do)
WWPD (What would Plato do)
WWAD (What would Aristotle do)
WWKLD (What would King Leonidas do)
WWGKD (What would Genghis Khan do)
WWHSD (What would Homer Simpson do)
Etc...

I had a roommate in college that had one that said:

"What would Cthulha do?" on the front and

Evil!!! on the back
