Toy Story Zoetrope currently installed at DCA

The Zoetrope I saw at the PIXAR MoMA exhibit is currently on display in the Animation building at DCA. You should go check it out.

I will ... if I'm ever in DCA.

(They have a really cute Candy Corn farm for Halloween though)

RStar 10-02-2007 10:29 PM

Where in the animation building?

Stan4dSteph 10-03-2007 04:14 AM

In the area where they have the artwork and maquettes.

RStar 10-04-2007 07:15 AM

Oh, thanks Steph!

This way I can go strieght to it and not spend any more time in DCA than nessisary!

J/K... I don't mind DCA.

For an AP Lounge. ;)

Okay, I kinda remember seeing this thread and thinking "whoopee, another zoetrope in the Animation Building," thinking of the ones that have been installed from the beginning, in where you can draw your own.

And Steph's original RtS mention of it didn't give much detail either.

Now I've seen it.

Oh
My
God.

This is NOT your typical "put a strip of paper in a wheel with some slits" zoetrope. Fully 3 dimensional, huge, with 6 different animated sequences coming to life simultaneously before your eyes. And PERFECTLY engineered and timed.

Blown away.

There was a woman and little boy looking at it while it wasn't moving. They started to walk away just as it began to spin and I told them they had to watch. I couldn't stand for someone to come so close and then miss something so amazing.

I concur with Greg. That was exactly my impression going in having it described to me minutes before heading over to the animation building and I was totally blown away. Will upload video to some website at some point.

OOh more great video from NirvanaMan. That was incredible, I had no idea what to expect from it and like everyone else, had my socks blown off.

Socks.... off...
