Literally jet setting
 

Anyone been following Steve Fosett's attempt to fly around the world with no stops and without refueling? Pretty damned cool, even a bit full of drama after mid-flight they discovered they were 2,600 lbs of fuel short of where they thought they should be (still not known whether it was a leak, less efficient use than expected, or incorrect instrutment reading). He's about an hour and a half away from landing back in Kansas.

I just read an update on the story at CNN. I think it's very cool, especially since he thought he might have to quit. Must have gotten some good tailwinds, etc along the way.

Good tail winds, and he pumped the remaining fuel from the outer tanks to the inner tanks which increased the efficiency.

And he landed safely! In some ways, this speaks to the very heart of swank, no? Millionaires out having "adventures" that involve actual risk to life and limb that we mere mortals learn about in the newsreal.

Well said Prudence. It's been a while since we've seen that Lindburgh or Earhardt mentality in the news. Adventure for adventures sake. This and the X Prize have been exciting things to follow. Much respect for Mr. Forssett, and for Mr. Branson (owner of Virgin) for funding it.

This was very cool. Prudence, you're right! It has been awhile since we've seen this type of thing. Actually I don't recall anything like this in my lifetime.

Kudos to Mr. Branson for funding this flight and the one of the plane that went to space (forgot what it's called).
